[ GREEN OPERATIONS & ADVANCED LEADERSHIP ]

The GOAL logo with a green and white design.

We are the only sustainability program for venues in the live event industry — built around a measurable standard and a connected network of workshops, forums, and peer learning.

We benchmark and advance progress, and equip members with the communications tools to celebrate achievements.

[ About ]

We enable the business of sustainability by strengthening operations, realizing cost savings opportunities, expanding partnerships, growing revenue generating assets, and improving how organizations measure and communicate their progress.

No two venues are alike — and their sustainability ambitions shouldn’t be either. GOAL provides benchmarking, audits, workshops, and solutions to build a unique and locally-specific action plan to ultimately celebrate sustainability leadership.

Common Questions

  • Venues can join GOAL by becoming a GOAL Member. Membership provides access to the GOAL Medals Program, member events, tools, resources, and the GOAL community. The best first step is to reach out to the GOAL team (info@goalstandard.com) or ‘Contact Us’ page to start a conversation about your venue, your goals, and how GOAL can support your sustainability journey.

  • Many GOAL Members do not have a dedicated sustainability team or even person with a sustainability title. GOAL is designed to support venues where sustainability responsibilities may sit across operations, engineering, food and beverage, partnerships, or marketing. The program helps create structure, shared language, and clear next steps, regardless of team size or internal resources. Once we’re working together, our team can’t help working proactively on your behalf to integrate sustainability!

  • Yes. GOAL is built for venues at every stage of their sustainability journey. Not every venue starts in the same place, and no two buildings the same. The GOAL Medals Program is designed to recognize incremental progress, from foundational actions to more advanced efforts. Many venues join GOAL specifically to help define their starting point and build a roadmap for what comes next.

  • GOAL membership is not tiered based on performance. All members have access to the core programs, including GOAL Medals, events, and community resources. Some members choose to add optional Services, such as data analytics, strategy and storytelling support, or revenue-driving partnerships support, depending on their needs and capacity.

  • Most GOAL events, including workshops, forums, and best practice calls, are designed for GOAL Members to encourage open, peer-to-peer learning. Some events may include invited partners or guests, but the primary focus is creating a trusted space for members to share challenges, solutions, and experiences.

  • GOAL Medals are earned by completing specific sustainability objectives across ten categories. Venues review the objectives, take action within their operations, and submit documentation through the GOAL Portal. Each submission is reviewed by the GOAL team to ensure consistency and credibility. Medals are awarded annually and help venues track progress, validate achievements, and identify future focus areas.
